The IASME portal: how the Cyber Essentials assessment platform works

The IASME portal is where your Cyber Essentials assessment happens. This short guide explains how you get access, how to answer and submit, and where to go if you are stuck. We are not IASME: for sign-in and account support, go to IASME directly.

In short

The IASME portal is IASME's online assessment platform for Cyber Essentials. You get an account when you register and pay, through IASME directly or a licensed Certification Body, then have six months to answer the question set, have a director or equivalent sign the declaration and submit it for marking. If you pass, you are sent your certificate and badge.

What the IASME portal is

IASME, the NCSC's Cyber Essentials Delivery Partner, runs the online assessment portal used for Cyber Essentials. It is where you:

  • answer the current Cyber Essentials questions, which since 27 April 2026 are the Danzell question set
  • record your organisation, its legal entities and your scope
  • sign the declaration and submit the assessment for marking
  • see the assessor's feedback and any queries

Once you pass, IASME emails a link to download your digital certificate and badge.

People search for it as the IASME login, the Cyber Essentials login or the IASME dashboard. This site is not IASME and cannot give you access or reset a password: use IASME's website to sign in, or ask the Certification Body you registered with.

How you get an account

  1. Choose a route. Register and pay through IASME (self-led) or through an IASME-licensed Certification Body (supported). See choosing a Cyber Essentials certification body.
  2. Your assessment account opens. From then on you have six months to complete and submit it.
  3. Prepare offline first. IASME's free question set booklet lets you read every question before you register, and our Cyber Essentials requirements checklist helps you check that your answers will be true.

The best time to open an account is after your gaps are fixed, not before. A Cyber Essentials gap analysis shows what to fix.

Answering and submitting

  • Save as you go. You do not have to finish in one sitting: you can save and return within the six months.
  • Describe what is true today, with product names, versions and settings, so the assessor can judge each answer.
  • Check the automatic fails first: MFA on every cloud service, critical and high-risk updates within 14 days, and no unsupported software in scope.
  • Have the declaration signed by a board member or equivalent, who also accepts responsibility for staying compliant for the whole certification period.
  • Submit for marking. IASME says assessors aim to mark within a few working days.

Is Cyber Essentials certification support the right fit for you?

After you submit

The assessor may raise queries before deciding. If some answers fall short, you get feedback and two working days to amend them at no extra cost; after that you would need a new assessment and fee. When you pass, the certificate is issued, your organisation appears in IASME's certificate search (see Cyber Essentials certification check) and you are sent a link to download your certificate and the Cyber Essentials logo badge.

About a month before your certificate expires, a reminder to renew arrives from IASME or, if you certified through one, your Certification Body. Renewal is a new assessment against the question set in force at the time.

Help with the portal

For problems with access, passwords or your account, contact IASME or the Certification Body you registered with; only they can help. For help with the content of your answers, such as what counts as a cloud service or how to describe your firewall, our guides to how to get Cyber Essentials certification and the Cyber Essentials requirements cover the detail, and IASME's Knowledge Hub explains the questions.

Forever Systems prepares organisations so that, by the time they open the portal, every answer can be given with confidence. Contact us for a readiness review.

How Forever Systems helps you get certified

Most organisations fail Cyber Essentials for the same handful of reasons: unsupported operating systems left in scope, missing multi-factor authentication on cloud services, default passwords on routers and firewalls, and security updates that sit for longer than the 14 days the scheme allows. We find those gaps before an assessor does, then help you fix them.

  • Readiness review and gap analysis of your devices, cloud services, firewalls and user accounts against the current question set
  • Remediation: patching, configuration hardening, MFA roll-out, firewall changes and device management with tools such as Microsoft Intune
  • Support through assessment with an IASME-licensed certification body, for both Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus
  • Supply chain and sector requirements: help when a customer, a public-sector contract or a framework asks for certification as a condition of working with them
  • Staying compliant all year, so renewal is a formality rather than a scramble

Forever Systems Ltd is an IT and cyber security provider. We prepare you for certification and work alongside a licensed certification body, which carries out the assessment and issues the certificate.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IASME portal?

It is IASME's online assessment platform for Cyber Essentials, where you answer the question set, sign the declaration, submit for marking and see the assessor's feedback. Once you pass, IASME emails a link to your digital certificate and badge.

How do I register for the IASME portal?

You get an assessment account when you register and pay for Cyber Essentials, either with IASME directly or through a licensed Certification Body. The account then stays open for six months.

How do I log in to the IASME portal?

Use the sign-in on IASME's website, or the details you received when your account was created. If you cannot sign in, contact IASME or your Certification Body. This website is independent of IASME and has no access to accounts.

Do I have to complete the question set in one sitting?

No. You can save and return within the six months the assessment account is open, and a board member or equivalent signs the declaration before you submit.

How long do I have to complete an assessment in the portal?

Six months from opening the assessment account. Read the free question set booklet and fix any gaps before you register, so the six months are not spent on remediation.
